In 2024, DM Roofing and Roughcasting worked as the main contractor with H. McMurray and Son Ltd to complete the roofing and rendering for five new luxury plots at the Rose Cottage development in the coastal village of Portencross.
Building Background
The Rose Cottage development is part of a new housing project in Portencross, a village known for its picturesque views. This development aims to blend modern construction techniques with traditional aesthetic values, providing luxurious living spaces that complement the village’s charm.
Project Challenges
The project involved installing a combination of modern Spanish slating and a modern scraped render system, with one plot featuring a traditional wet cast render system. The main challenge was to seamlessly integrate these different roofing and rendering styles while maintaining the high-quality standards expected in luxury housing.
Scope of Work
Roofing:
DM Roofing installed modern Spanish slates on the roofs, ensuring durability and a contemporary appearance that aligns with the overall design of the development.
Rendering:
The majority of the plots were finished with a modern scraped render system, providing a sleek and clean look. One plot was distinguished by a traditional wet cast render system, offering a nod to more classic architectural styles.
Leadworks and UPVC RW Goods:
All leadworks and UPVC rainwater goods were installed to ensure effective drainage and enhance the longevity of the buildings.
Outcome
The Rose Cottage development now boasts five luxury plots, each featuring high-quality roofing and rendering that harmonise modern techniques with traditional aesthetics. The successful completion of this project highlights DM Roofing’s ability to deliver superior craftsmanship and attention to detail, contributing to the beauty and functionality of this historic coastal village.
