Working as a sub-contractor with Keir Construction we were overjoyed to be involved in this project, with our Managing Director living in Troon and his son recently enrolled at the school. Whilst Keir demolished the 70s built games hall and replaced it with a state of the art new extension, great care had to be taken to renovate the existing Grade B listed building with its distinctive copper dome.
The existing Westmoreland green slates had to be stripped and set aside for re-use, but the architects were insistent that we match them as closely as possible with any make up slates that were required.

So, with carbon footprint being very important to the project, we recycled slates which we had stripped from council houses through a contract with Renfrewshire Council. These proved to be almost an exact match. The cast iron gutters were also in a poor state of repair, so DM Roofing and Roughcasting took a sample to a local foundry in Falkirk and tasked them with reproducing the same.
The finished job looked as though no works had been done, which was of course exactly what everyone wanted.
